Started from the bottom, now we're here...and these ladies did it twice with their business! Our first joint interview on this podcast features one of my favorite sister duos, Chrissy Kling & Nicole Levine. They are the owners of Good Carma Studio, a unique, LA-based agency redefining branding and product placement through connecting brands, celebrities, and consumers. Prior to Good Carma Studio, Chrissy and Nicole developed two highly successful apparel lines, My-Tee and Hope & Glorie, which were sold in Bloomingdale’s and Barneys New York over the course of a decade. With candid humor and tough love, these sisters are opening up on how they tackle motherhood and running a business, what it’s like to work with family, and how to make it happen when you’re starting from the bottom.

Favorite Takeaways From This Episode

It’s important to take feedback, and pivot with it. When things don’t exactly go your way, success happens when you adjust and keep going.

Having a really strong business partnership requires work, and complete honesty.

Your attitude is really important to the attitude of your team, and the attitudes of your partnerships.

When it comes to creating unique experiences for the consumer from a branding standpoint, it’s important to look at the uniqueness of the brand itself.

Block out the noise. Don’t be afraid to put yourself out there, call someone, pitch yourself-whatever it may be. The worst thing that can happen is someone says, “no.” It’s important to make sure that you don’t get caught up in fears or in what other people think about you.

Don’t be afraid to fail. It WILL happen, but what counts is to keep going. Failure is part of your growth.

If you aren’t loving what you’re doing, your passion isn’t going to show to others.

Invest in people who invest in you. You can visit pity city, but you can’t stay there.

Self care is incredibly important. There is something about taking care of yourself that helps you take care of everything else.

A failure is only a failure if you don’t keep going and move forward. Things can change in an instant, so you have to keep trucking if things go poorly. Even if you fail, you CAN bounce back.
