Favorite Takeaways From This Episode:

When running a business as efficiently as possible, it’s important to understand where your time is actually going. Adrienne works with her clients on understanding what she calls, “The 4 Ds.” As a business owner, it’s important to understand where your time is going and which of the Ds you are spending your time in throughout the day to rebalance and adjust accordingly.

The first D is “doing,” and refers to executing tasks. The second D is “deciding,” and it happens when you bring additional team members on board,  assign tasks to them, and they coming to you with decisions to be made. The third D is “delegating,” or when you assign an outcome to another person on your team, and they make the decisions. And the fourth D is “designing,” which involves creating the future of the organization, the best workflows, and taking action to determine where the company is going.

Adrienne also talked about the importance of creating clear expectations and communication with your team members, so that they know where they’re safe to operate and make decisions for you.

In order to promote maximum efficiency in your business, Adrienne recommends doing a time study and evaluating your time using “The 3 Ts.” This helps you protect your time and energy, which is incredibly important.

The first T is “trash,” which means anything that is a waste of your time or anything you think you can get rid of throughout your day. The second T is “trim,” which means shortening tasks so that you can get more done in less time. The last T is “transfer,” which means identifying what you can put on someone else’s plate. This is paramount to being able to scale your business, and not overextend yourself.
